Nigeria: FG Tasks Investors On Investment Opportunities in Oil And Gas

Lagos — The federal government has once again urged investors to take advantage of the robust investment opportunities, the yet to be passed Petroleum Industry Bill will offer the nation's oil and gas sector.

Vice President Namadi Sambo, who made the call at the International Conference organised by the Nigerian Association of Petroleum Explorationists (NAPE) in Abuja yesterday, said government will not relent in its efforts at creating an enabling environment in the sector with a view to bringing investors, delight.

 

NAPE, it would be recalled, has come far since the first day in 1975, when its seed was planted by one of its visionary members. That seed has today produced apprioximately 6,120 individual members in various categories, over 120 corporate members and numerous other stakeholders. NAPE's affiliation with the older (1917) AAPG organisation, with over 30,000 members, provides a platform to develop useful business partnership amognst professionals, the academia and numerous other stakeholders globally, and particularly in Africa. As co-host of this year's Deepwater Offshore West Africa (DOWAC) 2010, NAPE and AAPG have demostrated what solid professional partnership can dliver in this competitively world of oil and gas exploration.

The Vice President, who was represented by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs.Diezanni Alison Madueke, said part of government's renewed focus is the Petroleum Industry Bill currently awaiting the assent of the National Assembly.

He said when passed into law next month, it will take care of all various stakeholders' interests, adding that good times await Nigerians desirous of investing in the country's oil and gas sector as the incumbent government was committed to instituting reforms.
